George F. Stoecklein, Sr. discovered and fell in love with the cemetery industry in 1951. He began working as a Memorial Counselor, assisting families at a Memorial Park near Pittsburgh. Eventually, George was able to accumulate enough resources and fulfill his dream of owning a cemetery. In 1956 he purchased Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, in Irwin, Pennsylvania. The early years were difficult, but George remained resolved in his goal to provide protection to all families through the pre-arrangement of cemetery property.
George was able to expand his operation by attracting other talented and dedicated individuals. He acquired more cemeteries in Western Pennsylvania. The business continued to flourish. After a few years, George was able to obtain cemetery properties in other parts of the state as well as in Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio. CMS East, Inc. was the name selected for the cemetery corporation that George F. Stoecklein, Sr., erected through sheer tenacity and unwavering faith.
As CMS East, Inc. grew, so too did the involvement of the next generation of the Stoecklein Family. Now in its second generation of ownership, CMS East, Inc. is the largest family owned cemetery organization in the country. We presently operate 26 cemeteries and perform more than 3,500 interments, entombments and inurnments annually. CMS East, Inc. is a member of the International Cemetery Cremation Funeral Association, five state cemetery associations, and several local Chambers of Commerce.
CMS East, Inc. remains committed to fulfilling the goals established by its founder, George F. Stoecklein, Sr., to provide excellent service to all families who have entrusted us with the care of their loved ones and give peace of mind and financial security through the variety of pre-arrangement programs we offer.
